HDMA Center has been hosting three large NSF projects (CDI, IBSS, and IMEE):
1. Mapping Ideas from Cyberspace to Realspace. Funded by NSF Cyber-Enabled Discovery and Innovation (CDI) program. Award # 1028177. $1.3 million (PI: Tsou, 2010-2015)

This NSF-CDI project integrates GIS, computational linguistics, web search engines, and social media APIs to track and analyze public-accessible websites and social media (tweets) for visualizing and analyzing the diffusion of information and ideas in cyberspace.
2. Spatiotemporal Modeling of Human Dynamics Across Social Media and Social Networks. Funded by Interdisciplinary Behavioral and Social Science Research (IBSS) program. Award#: 1416509. $1 million (PI: Tsou, 2014-2019).

This large interdisciplinary research project studies human dynamics across social media and social networks, focusing on information diffusion modeling over time and space, and the connection between online activities and real world human behaviors.
3. Integrated Stage-based Evacuation with Social Perception Analysis and Dynamic Population Estimation. Funded by NSF IMEE program. Award#: 1634641, Funding Amount: $449,202, PI: Tsou, 2016-2019. Co-PIs: Dr. Atsushi Nara (Geography and GIS), Drs. Yang and Ghanipoor Machiani (Civil Engineering).
